One of the most popular recipes on this site is Baked Spaghetti.  It’s also my wife’s favorite!  She loves it!  But I always wanted a Creole-ized version of it.  I found a great version of it and posted it on the *NEW* RedBeansAndEric.com website.  It’s a version of Country Superstar Trisha Yearwood’s recipe.

I also look into a popular pasta restaurant in New Orleans – A Mano’s!  It’s been voted as one of the Top 10 places to get pasta in America!

As the A Mano’s saying goes, Inspired in Italy, Made in New Orleans!  It’s what could be said about this Creole Style Baked Spaghetti but, Inspired BY Italy, Inspired BY New Orleans! And can be MADE where ever you’re at!  Enjoy!

Baked Spaghetti

Back by the families popular demand… Baked Spaghetti was on the menu tonight. If you have never made it, give it a try!

Baked Spaghetti

New Orleans is…

…as Kermit Ruffins sang in “What Is New Orleans – Part 2” with the Rebirth Brass Band is “Spaghetti and Meatballs on a Tuesday…”.

Besides “Red beans and Rice on a Monday” and a whole lot of other things New Orleans is, Tuesday just happened to be a spaghetti night here. I didn’t go the traditional route, or with meatballs, but… baked. If you never had it, it tastes great. It’s only one added step. You cook it the same way as you normally would, but once it’s all cooked – you bake it (with the added cheese on top).

So as you groove to some Kermit Ruffins or Rebirth Brass Band… here is:

Baked Spaghetti

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs hamburger
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 12oz spaghetti noodles
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 8 – 10 slices American Cheese

Boil spaghetti noodles according to the directions on the box.

Brown hamburger, onions, and green peppers. Drain once done.

Preheat oven at 350 degrees.

Mix in chili powder, water, and tomato soup to the hamburger. Bring to a quick boil then remove from heat. Add the cooked noodles to the mixture. Pour into a 9×13 pan. Top with cheese. Bake for 20 minutes.
